Vinagre gave the former Tottenham Hotspur defender plenty to think about as Wolverhampton Wanderers exited the Carabao Cup at the hands of Manchester City.

Ruben Vinagre ‘sent Kyle Walker back to Tottenham’ during Wolverhampton Wanderers’ penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
That was the precise verdict of more than one Wolves supporter on Twitter after the Championship leaders’ heroic display at the home of their Premier League counterparts.

The 18-year-old left-back, who is on loan from French champions Monaco, returned to Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Tuesday as one of nine changes.
And he more than lived up to the recent hype surrounding him – Arsenal and Everton are both said to have taken a shine to him – with his beating of Walker, City’s £50 million summer signing from Tottenham, a particular highlight (see below tweet).
Here’s how Wolves fans reacted to Vinagre’s display:
Wolves became the first team to stop City from scoring in 90 minutes since April, despite Pep Guardiola naming Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling in his starting lineup.
But the hosts proved deadly from 12 yards, scoring every single one of their penalty kicks to win the shootout 4-1, after Claudio Bravo had saved from Alfred N’Diaye and Conor Coady.
