Sergio Reguilo has admitted that Gareth Bale is a different man since re-signing for Tottenham Hotspur last month.
After seven years away from North London, Bale made an emotional return to Spurs on a season-long loan move from Real Madrid.
The Wales international had a difficult end to last season under Zinedine Zidane and found himself getting left out of the Frenchman’s squads on a regular basis.
There has been some debate as to whether Bale ever learned Spanish after Marcelo claimed in 2019 that the pair hadto communicate through gestures and broken English.
But considering he is able to use his mother tongue and interact with his Tottenham team-mates on the training pitch now, Reguilon, who also joined the North Londoners from Real last month, says that the 31-year-old seems much more content these days.
He told Onda Cero: “He seems different to me. The language is everything for him. He speaks Spanish well, it’s not bad, a bit like me in English, but communication, the habits, mean he’s happier in England.”
It’s been a decent start to his return to the Lilywhites.
Injury kept him sidelined until after the last international break but since then, Bale has managed one goal and one assist in four starts across all competitions.
But those statistics will undoubtedly increase throughout the season, fitness permitting.
