
Sunderland defender Luke O’Nien has said that 20-year-old teammate Dan Neil reminds him of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
Speaking to the Telegraph ahead of tonight’s massive League Cup fixture against Arsenal, the 27-year-old Black Cats general lauded Neil after a breakout season with Sunderland.
The midfielder has been a mainstay in Lee Johnson’s system this campaign. Neil has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring three and registering eight assists.
Likened to Eze, who signed for Crystal Palace last summer for a reported transfer fee of £20m, Neil is a player who will seemingly go all the way. for Sunderland And for O’Nien, he is a demon on the pitch and in training.
The fullback said: “He’s like a glider, the way he goes around players. He reminds me of when I was at Wycombe, we had Eberechi Eze come through.
“You could tell he has a charisma about him, making it look easy. Annoyingly very good in training when you are on the other team. He’s doing well.”
