Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise upon West Ham star Declan Rice for his attitude and keenness to learn, claiming that he reminds him of himself.
Ferdinand is, of course, one of the greatest players to come out of West Ham’s academy in recent times, going on to captain England and winning pretty much everything there is to win at club level during an illustrious career with Manchester United.
Ferdinand is clearly a big fan of Rice’s attitude, and he spoke about the midfielder and his potential move to Chelsea in the future.
“I see him being someone, listen I spoke to him, not necessarily about this transfer, but he’s a driven kid. He’s someone who wants to achieve, he’s someone who wants to better himself, he wants to improve, he’s like a sponge he asks questions when you speak to him,” Ferdinand said.
“He reminds me a lot of myself in that respect, he’ll ask you questions about ‘what was he like’ a player in his position, training with him. He wants to know everything because he wants to better himself, and you can’t fault a kid like that.”

If Rice becomes even half as successful as Ferdinand he will have had a brilliant career.
Mindset and attitude are two attributes that are key to being a success in this sport, and it seems as though Rice has exactly the type of outlook you’d want a player to have.
He’s driven and he wants to learn, what more can you ask from a young player?
West Ham fans have known for some time that Rice is on course to be an absolute star, and these comments from Ferdinand further support that view.
