Steven Gerrard got off to a winning start as manager of Aston Villa as the Birmingham side won 2-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion. And Marvelous Nakamba was impressive for the hosts.

The £11m 2019 signing started in a midfield three alongside Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn. And Nakamba was in fine form as Villa secured a late win against Brighton.

As per Gregg Evans on Twitter, the midfielder was one of the best passers on the pitch, with Nakamba completing 27 of his 28 passes with an accuracy of 96.4%.

Indeed, the Zimbabwe international has often struggled for Villa in the Premier League. However, Nakamba looked calm and composed under Gerrard in his first game in charge of the club.

The midfield has a whole looked like a compact unit. With Ramsey also winning plenty of plaudits from supporters on social media following the full-time whistle.

Yet Nakamba’s display, in particular, caught the eye of fans. And Villa supporters are keen for the midfielder to build from his performance against Brighton.
