So, it’s official. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has replaced Steven Gerrard at Rangers, just eight days after the 41-year-old joined Aston Villa.

It was a swift process from the Gers, and everyone at Ibrox should be proud of how quickly a solution to Gerrard’s exit was found.

Upon confirmation of the Dutchman’s arrival in Glasgow, Andrew Dickson shared a story about Van Bronckhorst which Rangers fans will love.

What’s the story?

Well, the respected sports journalists claims that, when arranging interviews over text with Van Bronckhorst, the 46-year-old signs off his messages with WATP – he clearly loves Rangers.

If you didn’t already know, WATP stands for We Are The People, a song sung by the Ibrox faithful.

Clearly, the Dutchman holds Rangers close to his heart.

The Rotterdam-born coach’s time at Rangers clearly had an impact on him.

Will Van Bronckhorst succeed at Rangers?

In our view, the former Barcelona defender will shine in the Ibrox dugout.

Throughout his managerial career, Van Bronckhorst has won 128 of his 224 matches, losing just 62 while drawing 34 – a very impressive record.

In that time, his sides have scored 463 goals, while conceding just 290.

Van Bronckhorst averages 1.87 points per game.

The Dutchman has also won the Eredivisie title, along with two Dutch Cups and two Dutch Super Cups.

Statistics aside, he’s clearly a man who connects with the football club, as was shown when Feyenoord organised a tribune for him before his exit.

Van Bronckhorst was pictured in tears as he held flowers – evidently, he’s a popular man who puts his all into his work, and is appreciated for that.

Hopefully, he can continue his impressive managerial career at Ibrox, as Rangers look to defend their Scottish Premiership title.
