Patrice Evra criticised Leeds United star Ezgjan Alioski on Sky Sports Main Event (6:37pm, November 22, 2020) for his role in the headbutting incident with Nicolas Pepe.

Arsenal winger Pepe was sent off in the sixth minute of the second half during the Premier League game against Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday evening.

The 25-year-old pushed his head into the face of Alioski, who went down holding his face, and the winger was subsequently dismissed.

Former Manchester United star Evra was following the match for Sky Sports, and he was quite sarcastic about Alioski, while making it clear – as quoted on Goal.com – that Pepe was wrong to do what he did.

Evra said on Sky Sports Main Event (6:37pm, November 22, 2020), as transcribed by Goal.com: “Alioski deserves an Oscar. He played so well, if I was the Leeds coach I would be so happy with Alioski but come on, he looked like he broke his nose.”

Deserved red card

Perhaps Alioski made the most of it, but there can be no argument regarding the dismissal of Pepe.

The winger should not have done what he did and should have maintained his cool.

Although Arsenal did not lose the match despite playing most of the second half with 10 men, perhaps the North London club would have won it had Pepe not been sent off.
