Harry Redknapp told talkSPORT (26/08/21 at 7:40 am) that Harry Kane owes the Tottenham fans ‘nothing’ as those rumours about him possibly moving to Manchester City have now come to an end.

On Wednesday, Kane announced on Twitter that he is staying at Spurs, after interest from Manchester City.

It now means that Nuno Espirito Santo can really focus on the season ahead and aim to guide Spurs into the Champions League.

Redknapp will know full well what it’s like having to deal with Daniel Levy after he spent several years in North London.

And the Englishman thinks the tough-negotiating Spurs chairman has played a crucial role in Kane staying put this summer.

“All that has changed is that Daniel wouldn’t sell him,” said Redknapp. “Daniel just would not sell. There wasn’t a price for him.

“In the end, Harry has realised that he’s not going to move. Daniel is quite within his rights. Harry had a three-year contract left – Daniel has done nothing wrong.

“I am a great Harry Kane fan. I think it’s fantastic – he owes the fans nothing. He has been incredible. He came through the youth policy. They didn’t pay any money for him. He gives everything every week.

“He hasn’t got to win them over really. I just think they know what Harry gives them every week and they will give him a great reception.”

Kane staying at Spurs isn’t just good news for the London club, but the Premier League club as a whole.

It now means that the competitive nature isn’t completely taken away by the oil-rich club.

But with days remaining until the transfer window slams shut, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Man City trying to make one big move elsewhere.

Ferran Torres has been the man deployed as Pep Guardiola’s number nine, with Gabriel Jesus either warming the bench or playing out on the flanks.
