Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing Jurgen Klopp and his reaction to his team’s loss to Brentford on Monday.
Klopp wasn’t best pleased with the officiating during the Brentford game, claiming that the Bees got away with a fair bit in terms of physicality from set-pieces.
Klopp was vocal with his complaints, but Seaman was shocked by the fact that the manager pointed this out, claiming that he should have been well prepared for this eventuality, stating that the manager should watch more football if he didn’t realise how physical Brentford were going to be.

Seaman stunned
The Arsenal legend spoke about Klopp’s post-match comments.
“I can’t believe he (Klopp) was moaning about Brentford manhandling some of his players. If he didn’t know that was going to happen then he needs to watch more football, you know exactly what’s going to happen when you go to Brentford, it’s almost like going to the old Wimbledon. It’s a physical game when you play them and you know that. I find it weird when a manager moans like that after the game,” Seaman said.
Have to be prepared
As much as Klopp has a point about Brentford getting away with a lot, Seaman is right about Liverpool’s preparations.
You should head to west London knowing that your team isn’t going to get the rub of the green in terms of refereeing and ask your players to prepare for a ridiculously physical battle.
Liverpool’s players just weren’t up to the test on Monday, and while the referee probably should have intervened on a few occasions, a bit more bite and steel from the Reds would also have counter-acted Brentford’s approach.
Klopp needs to play the game he’s presented with rather than the game he feels his team should be in.
