Mark Bosnich has told talkSPORT that Manchester United outcast Dean Henderson should seal a transfer to Newcastle as soon as he can, amid interest from Eddie Howe’s new side.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has only awarded Henderson minutes in one of the Red Devils’ 16 games so far this season. Starting their Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham in September.

Henderson missed the start of the campaign after being sidelined by coronavirus through August. But David de Gea’s performances have since kept the 24-year-old out of the team.

Henderson has watched all five Premier League games and three Champions League ties available to him from the bench. Costing the one-cap goalie his place in the England squad.

The Whitehaven-born shot-stopper now wants to leave Old Trafford in the winter market if he cannot displace De Gea first.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who report Newcastle would offer Henderson an escape route from Manchester United in the January transfer window after the Saudi-led takeover.

Bosnich urges Henderson to seal Newcastle transfer

Former Manchester United goalie Bosnich would now urge Henderson to seal a transfer to Newcastle as soon as possible.

Believing that a move away from Old Trafford is what is best for the £120k-a-week shot-stopper’s career. And St James’ Park can offer him a place to rekindle his promising career.

“I think he should go. He’s at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regular football. He’ll know that as well,” Bosnich said.

“I understand that at the start of the season, having a go in pre-season to see how things plan out. [But] De Gea has been excellent and there’s no doubt about it.

“But I think from Dean Henderson’s point of view, he needs to start looking after Dean Henderson.

“Newcastle are a club who are on the go and on the move, but they are also in a perilous position right now.

“New manager. It’s important to get your spin right and the goalkeeper is the integral part of that. He should go and should go as soon as he possibly can.”

Should Howe poach Manchester United outcast Henderson in January?

Henderson will struggle to oust De Gea from the Manchester United net if the Spaniard keeps up his early season performances.

Newcastle could struggle to poach Henderson from Manchester United in the January transfer window, too, if Howe gives the okay.

The Red Devils product still has three-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and wants to be their first-choice.

But the chance to be the number one at Newcastle could tempt Henderson into accepting a transfer away from Manchester United. Putting his career – and England ambitions – first.
