Speaking to OTB, Mark Lawrenson has been reacting to Gary Neville’s recent comments about Liverpool potentially doing something very special this season.
Neville spoke about the Reds on The Overlap earlier this week, and he stated that he’s scared of what Liverpool may do this term as they continue to push for an unprecedented quadruple.
Lawrenson simply couldn’t believe that a Manchester United legend like Neville would praise Liverpool in such a way, stating that the pundit mustn’t have been feeling right to say such a thing.
What’s been said?
Lawrenson reacted to Neville’s comments.
“I think he was ill, he must’ve been ill. Gary Neville praising Liverpool, you must be joking?” Lawrenson said.
The pundit then went on to speak about Liverpool’s quadruple chances.
I’ve been in that situation before, in the cup especially, and then you’re out. Everyone thinks you turn up every week and you’re going to win, but it’s never like that. We know what football is like, a loss of form, injuries, a refereeing decision, VAR, a fluke goal, whatever. I’d love Liverpool to win all four though, it’d be a fantastic achievement.”

Reality
Trust us, the last thing Gary Neville will have wanted to do is to admit that Liverpool could win a quadruple, but sometimes, you just have to face reality.
This Liverpool team is utterly remarkable, and they truly could win every trophy this season.
They’ve proven they’re good enough to win the Premier League and Champions League in recent years, while their Carabao Cup triumph this year proves their merits in domestic competition as well.
Of course, they still have some hurdles to get over, but with each passing week, this quadruple is looking more and more possible.
