Paul Robinson has stated that Antonio Conte must have been ‘really angry’ with his Tottenham players after he ignored them following their defeat to NS Mura last Thursday, as he told the Football Show on Sky Sports (30/11/21).

The former Spurs goalkeeper stated that Conte’s actions were a ‘real statement’ to his players.

It was a night of embarrassment for the North London club in Slovenia as they suffered a 2-1 loss to the minnows in the Europa Conference League.

They now have a fight to stay in Europe, even though many were mocking the newly-formed competition before it started.

Either way, Robinson thinks Conte’s decision not to speak to the players in the dressing room after that match is more impactful than him ‘ranting and raving’.

“I think he was just astounded at the level of performance,” said Robinson. “I think that in itself sent out a statement to the players.

“If the players are sat in the dressing room waiting to hear from the manager, and the manager doesn’t turn up, then that silence says a lot more than him coming in by throwing teacups, ranting and raving.

“That really sends out a message. We are all amazed and quite amused at times in the media thinking ‘that’s a real statement. He must be really angry’

“He probably wanted to gather his thoughts. Deliver what he wanted to say to whatever players he wanted to say it to. But him not going into the dressing room after the game is a huge statement.”

Given that Tottenham’s Premier League visit to Burnley on Sunday was postponed due to the weather, that game against NS Mura is still the last competitive match they played.

Conte would have no doubt wanted a reaction at Turf Moor, but instead, he will have to get it against Brentford on Thursday night.

The games are now coming thick and fast during this busy December period and Spurs need to get their act together else they will slide down the table.

Whilst many Spurs fans can see where their problems lie, it does seem as though their trophy-laden coach is now beginning to see the issues.
