Tottenham Hotspur, somehow, topped their Champions League group after a win against Marseille on Tuesday evening.

The north London club scraped through once again in midweek, as has become something of a trend in European competition this season.

While Spurs got the result that they wanted, fans and pundits were far from happy with the actual performance, and one man who was furious during the game was Ramon Vega.

The former Spurs defender didn’t hold back on social media with a string of tweets criticising his former club and the manager Antonio Conte.

In fact, Vega says that Conte could soon be sacked if performances don’t begin to pick up.

Vega was hugely critical of Spurs, but, to be honest, they deserve this criticism.

Yes, they won 2-1, but once again their performance was incredibly flat and set-pieces again bailed them out.

Overall, Spurs were not good value for a win here, and on another day, they would’ve been eliminated from the Champions League at this point.

It was the same story at the weekend too. A 3-2 win against Bournemouth masked another abject performance, and the same could’ve been said about last week’s draw against Sporting.

Tottenham are just not playing well right now, and if this does continue, it may not be long before questions begin to be asked about Conte’s role at the club.

Of course, Spurs sit third in the league and are through to the next round in Europe, so the results are there, but as many great managers have said, there’s no future in lucky wins, and if Spurs don’t begin to earn victories on their performances, they will begin to slide sooner rather than later.
