Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested that Christian Eriksen wouldn’t want to go back to Tottenham this summer, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Premier League striker added that Eriksen ‘makes any team better’ amid rumours that Spurs and Manchester United want to sign him.

After being out of action for nearly a year following his collapse at Euro 2020, Eriksen returned to football in the colours of Brentford in January.

Thomas Frank’s side were starting to hit a slippery slope before Eriksen arrived, only for him to play a role in helping them back up and losing two of his ten Premier League starts, before guiding them to a 13th-placed finish.

But with Eriksen becoming a free transfer this summer, Agbonlahor thinks, both Spurs and Manchester United, isn’t the place for him.

“He has the relationship with Conte,” said Agbonlahor. “He was his manager with Inter Milan, so that’s an option for him.

“Maybe he doesn’t want to go back to a club that he has already been at. The way he left as well wasn’t great.

“I am sure he has got so many options. There is talk about Manchester United, but I don’t know. Maybe he can do better than Manchester United.

“He makes every team better. Imagine playing with him. The runs you could make. He’s finding you anywhere on the pitch.”

ERIKSEN SHOULD STAY AT BRENTFORD

Given the faith Brentford put into Eriksen, when others didn’t take a punt on him in January, then he should repay them by staying on board.

If he does, then it seriously increases their chances of staying in the Premier League and being able to build long-term.

Added with that, players like Ivan Toney would be able to take their game to the next level because of the quality of Eriksen behind him.

Either way, the team that does end up with Eriksen next season, will have a bargain of a player on their hands.
