Ian Wright has claimed that Patrick Vieira will be ‘miffed’ that he didn’t get the Arsenal manager’s job before Mikel Arteta, as he told Premier League Productions (18/10/11 at 7:35 pm)
It has been over two years since Arsenal handed the keys to the Emirates to Arteta and it has been a topsy-turvy time for the Spanish coach.
Arteta, who was part of Pep Guardiola’s backroom staff at Manchester City before he returned to the Emirates, had zero experience when he was given the job.
On the other hand, Vieira had managed Man City’s youngsters, been out in America and was, at the time, in his home country managing Nice.
Now at Crystal Palace, Wright shared how Vieira ‘loves Arsenal’ and him not getting the job will probably give him a ‘boost’
“I know for a fact that it’s place he adores, he loves Arsenal,” said Wright. “What he is doing at Palace now, he will be in the running at some stage. He loves the club immensely.
“I am sure that will probably be his journey. I think so (on Vieira being miffed at being overlooked in the first place). It was one of those where he needed to go and do what he’s doing now.
“He’s done it. He’s done Man City. He has done America. Went to France and now he has come back. He has taken on a massive job at Palace.
“You say miffed. I think it was one of those situations that gave him a boost to go ‘I am going to get it done somewhere else’.”

Vieira has replaced the experienced stalwart Roy Hodgson in the Selhurst Park dugout and it has been a fine start to life in the Premier League for the former hard-hitting midfielder.
The Frenchman has taken over a team that allowed a number of experienced players to leave, brought in a handful of youngsters and changed the style of play from defensive one to an attacking one.
Whilst results have been mixed, Palace are unbeaten at home and it’s evident from their performances that there is some positive change going on.
It will be interesting to see, down the line, if Vieira is one day handed the keys to Arsenal because he has a chance if he does well at Palace.
