Tony Adams has stated that Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka ‘loves a shot’, as he told Premier League Productions.

That was proven over the weekend when Xhaka scored from distance during Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Manchester United, but Adams feels the goal should have been disallowed.

As Xhaka took his shot, striker Eddie Nketiah was standing in the eye-line of Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea.

Going by the letter of the law, the goal should have been disallowed, but it’s not going to bother Xhaka too much because it was three valuable points for his side.

Nonetheless, this is what Adams had to say about that Xhaka strike, as he joked the 29-year-old has a left foot ‘like mine’.

“He’s good a good left foot, like mine,” joked Adams. “But what a strike that is. He has a great left foot and he loves a shot, Granit.

“I don’t like that goal being disallowed because it’s such a great goal, but he (Nketiah) is offside.

“De Gea was trying to look around him, so that shows you how much is behind him and in the goalkeeper’s eye line.”

During these past few games, Xhaka has really stepped up to the plate for Arsenal, especially with key defensive players missing.

Thomas Partey is hoping for a return as soon as possible, Kieran Tierney looks set to be out for the rest of the season, whilst Takehiro Tomiyasu returned from a long lay-off against Manchester United.

From an attacking sense, Arsenal are doing the business, but their defensive problems have been there in recent matches.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping Tomiyasu and Partey can return to the starting XI as soon as possible because only very few games remain to secure Champions League football.
