Speaking on the UMM YouTube channel, Jamie Carragher has been waxing-lyrical about Ibrahima Konate ahead of the new Premier League season.
Konate is Liverpool’s only senior signing so far this summer, and while the Reds could probably do with making a couple more new additions, it’s hard to not be excited about the former RB Leipzig man.
Indeed, Konate looks to be the real deal, and Carragher has been blown away by what he’s seen from the Frenchman so far.
What’s been said?
Carragher was asked if he was looking forward to Konate’s partnership with Virgil van Dijk, to which he replied:
“True, I’m really looking forward to it. Joe Gomez is still there who had a great partnership with van Dijk, but Konate looks an absolute beast. That has the potential to be the best centre-back partnership in the league. Konate I watched him at Leipzig, he’s got that presence, he’s certainly got the pace. He looks spectacular yeah.”

Good signs
Of course, it’s impossible to say whether or not Konate will be a success at Liverpool until he’s played some Premier League football, but it seems as though all the signs are positive.
The Frenchman has impressed in pre-season, and as Carragher says, he has the attributes needed to be a success at this level.
He’s strong and he’s fast, and as long as he doesn’t struggle with the technical side of the game at this level, he should be a brilliant addition to the Reds’ backline.
