Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster has been discussing two Leeds players after their win against Liverpool at the weekend.

The Whites defied all of the odds at the weekend by beating Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in over 20 years, and after such a performance it was no surprise to hear that two Leeds players were up for Foster’s ‘Champ of the Week’ award.

Illan Meslier earned a nomination after making a string of brilliant saves against the Reds, while Foster also reserved praise for Crysencio Summerville after his remarkable late goal secured the win for Leeds.

Champ of the week

Foster gave both Meslier and Summerville praise.

“Champ of the Week, first of all we have got Illan Meslier for Leeds. A fantastic performance, save after save, he was really good,” Foster said.

“We also have another player from Leeds. It’s Crysencio Summerville, I can’t say his name, a lovely goal and he looks a player by the way as well.”

The future is bright

The fact that both Meslier and Summerville are being spoken about in these terms is exciting for Leeds.

Yes, the current squad have been struggling this season, but the future looks incredibly bright.

Meslier and Summerville are both in their early 20s, while Joe Gelhardt, Wilfried Gnonto and Sam Greenwood are also in that sort of age bracket.

Leeds have so many talented young players coming through right now, and if they can retain their Premier League status for the next few years, there may well be something exciting brewing at Elland Road.

This certainly isn’t the last we’ll hear about Summerville or Meslier.
