According to Sky Sports, Julian Nagelsmann is open to becoming the Liverpool manager in the future.
The Reds won’t be changing manager anytime soon. Jurgen Klopp is a legend at the club and this job is seemingly his for as long as he wants it.
However, the German’s contract is up in 2024, and with the gaffer looking to take a sabbatical around that time, he may need replacing.
Sky believe that Nagelsmann would like to take on this challenge, and that news may be music to the ears of Ibrahima Konate.
Indeed, Konate worked with Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, and he’s had plenty of good things to say about the coach in the past.
What’s Konate said?
The Frenchman praised Nagelsmann during their time together in Germany.
“You feel that he lives for football, he wants to win, you feel his emotions. It’s better to have a coach who shouts at his players because he keeps you focused and keeps you from falling asleep on the pitch. It’s true that in defence we have more freedom than other clubs. The coach has this philosophy and he knows that we have athletic qualities and that we’re not afraid to play the ball, so he gives us the chance to go up the pitch with the ball,” Konate said.
Sounds perfect
An expressive coach who is obsessed with winning and gives his defenders freedom to push forward. Nagelsmann sounds like the perfect Klopp replacement at Liverpool.
Of course, the current Bayern boss still has a lot to prove, but if all goes to plan, Liverpool will get to have an up-close look at Nagelsmann in the Champions League semi-finals if Bayern get past Villarreal and Liverpool overcome Benfica.
Steven Gerrard and Pep Lijnders have long been touted as potential Klopp successors, but don’t be shocked if Nagelsmann ends up at Anfield.
