Gary Neville has said on ITV (7:57pm, December 10, 2022) that Arsenal star Bukayo Saka should have been given a free kick in the build-up to the first goal for France against England in the quarter-finals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Saturday evening.
The former Manchester United and England international defender believes that Arsenal ace Saka was fouled, and that France’s goal in the first half should have been disallowed.
Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni opened the scoring for France in the 17th minute with a wonderful effort.
It was a truly brilliant goal from Tchouameni from 25 yards, with the ball going through the legs of Borussia Dortmund and England international midfielder Jude Bellingham.
However, television replays showed that Saka was fouled by France defender Dayot Upamecano while England were attacking.
There was no foul given and France broke quickly, and the move ended in Tchouameni’s goal.
Former United and England international defender Neville believes that it was a foul on Saka, and that the goal should have disallowed.

Neville said: “He just kicks his leg away, and I am not sure why that is not given as a foul.”
