Tim Sherwood has stated that Son Heung-min ‘isn’t having a good time’ despite Tottenham Hotspur beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions.

In the second half, with Spurs winning 1-0, Antonio Conte subbed off Son and Sherwood shared that the player wasn’t a happy bunny by his manager’s call.

After securing the Premier League’s Golden Boot alongside Mo Salah last season, after four games this term, the South Korean star is yet to find the back of the net.

The 2021/22 campaign was without a doubt one that saw Son take his name and game to the next level and his best season since being in Spurs colours.

But those performances come with expectations and that’s why his average start is being highlighted in such a manner now.

Despite that, Sherwood is backing the player’s quality to come to the fore and despite Son’s ‘moody’ response at the City Ground, he likes the passion being shown.

“The quality you have in the forward areas, you have the luxury of taking off Son, who isn’t having a good time, at the moment,” said Sherwood. “He wasn’t happy when he walked off the pitch.

“Richarlison comes on and makes the second goal for Kane. They have quality in reserves – you don’t want Son to be doing backflips coming off the pitch and being happy. It’s not about that.

“He is coming off because he’s not done so well. He hasn’t done well this season. But he is a brilliant player and has been brilliant for a number of seasons. He will get his form back.

“At the moment, they are winning without his contribution – I love his response. They have brought in Richarlison, everyone thought he might be the moody one. But Son is the moody one. He is a top-draw professional.”

SON WILL COOK SOONER RATHER THAN LATER

When it’s not coming off for you as a forward, then the next best thing to do is, at the very least, miss big chances and that’s what Son is doing.

He had a number of them against Forest, even seeing his one v one saved, although it was later flagged for offside.

It’s just a case of that first goal hitting the back of the net for Son, and in next to no time, he will be fighting alongside the likes of Kane, Mo Salah and new boy Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot.

Until then, whilst Son struggles, his partner in crime, Harry Kane, has started off the new Premier League season in a no-nonsense fashion.
