Speaking on Vibe With Five, Anton Ferdinand has been discussing West Ham United’s fantastic start to the season, praising Michail Antonio.

Antonio has been excellent thus far in 2021/22. He’s netted six goals in eight Premier League games and he’s been an absolute nuisance for every defence he’s faced.

The striker has really stepped up a gear this season, and Ferdinand has been full of praise for the attacker.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand had nothing but good things to say about the Jamaica international.

“He’s got someone in Antonio who has gone from a wing-back to a winger to arguably being a fantastic number nine, you know, and he is the catalyst for everything West Ham are doing. The spine of the team is just so strong,” Ferdinand said.

Undeniable

Ferdinand says that Antonio is arguably a fantastic number nine, but in our view, there’s nothing arguable about it.

Antonio is simply a brilliant striker playing at the top level. His goal return this season has been exceptional and even the best defenders in the world struggle to deal with him.

Yes, West Ham need a new striker. After all, they don’t have any depth in that area beyond Antonio, but they will certainly struggle if they’re looking for a new number nine who will be an upgrade on their current striker.

The 31-year-old is playing his very best football right now, and if he keeps this up, West Ham will certainly go close to qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
