Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has named Kevin De Bruyne as the one player he’d like Newcastle United to go out and sign from the Premier League.

The striker was asked to pick one player from England’s top-flight to join Newcastle, and he didn’t hesitate when picking the Man City star.

As a forward, it’s not hard to understand why Wilson would like to play with De Bruyne. After all, he is the single-most deadly creative force in the division at the moment.

Wilson’s De Bruyne dream

The Magpies ace named De Bruyne as the player he’d most like to see at Newcastle.

“I would say someone like De Bruyne you know. The way he plays, the balls that he is playing. He is the best midfielder in the world for me and if you have him behind you you’re always guaranteed to have two or three opportunities per game,” Wilson said.

Imagine that midfield

Of course, Kevin De Bruyne probably isn’t going to be joining Newcastle anytime soon, but could you imagine that midfield if he did?

De Bruyne as a number 10 with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton doing some of the dirty work behind him would be absolutely irresistible.

In fact, we’d go as far as to say that Newcastle would have the best midfield in the Premier League if they managed to pull this signing off.

As the richest club in the world, you can never rule anything out at St James’ Park these days, but it’s not too risky to say that De Bruyne won’t be joining the Magpies. He’s more than happy at Manchester City and at the age of 31, he’s likely to stay at the Etihad as he chases a Champions League crown before the end of his playing days.
