After England dismantled Andorra on Sunday, Jordan Henderson has been waxing-lyrical about his Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The right-back played in midfield for the Three Lions on Sunday, and while he was impressive, the Reds’ captain doesn’t believe he should make the switch to the centre on a permanent basis.
However, despite not being the biggest fan of the right-back’s new position, he had nothing but good things to say about him, labelling the Liverpool star as ‘so good’ and ‘very talented’.
What’s been said?
Henderson was discussing Alexander-Arnold’s showing against Andorra.
“Trent did some good things,” Henderson said, as quoted by the Echo.
“Obviously it was his first time really in that position so he’s learning all the time, it’s a new experience for him. He did really well.
“We changed personnel a little bit in the second half but it is a great experience for him. Going forward it is a possibility for him and the manager will think that’s good for him.
“But at the minute he is so good at right-back, especially at club level, that I don’t see that changing in the near future but it’s good the gaffer here is looking at it to see what he can add – you have to be very talented to play in any position – but for me, he is so good at the right-hand side delivering crosses that he should stick to that for the time being.”

Keep him at right-back
Alexander-Arnold may be good enough to play in midfield, but as the old adage goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
At the end of the day, Alexander-Arnold is one of the very best full-backs on the planet, so why would you want to change his position?
Of course, the right-back spot in the England team is very competitive, but even with the likes of Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier competing, Alexander-Arnold has to be first-choice in our view.
