Andy Robertson played a big role in Liverpool’s demolition of Leeds United on Wednesday night.
The Scotland international didn’t get himself among the goals frenzy at Anfield.
However, the former Hull City defender, an £8 million signing in 2017, did deliver the brilliant cross which ultimately led to Liverpool moving 1-0 ahead.
Mohamed Salah fired Jurgen Klopp’s into the lead early on from the penalty spot, after a handball from Stuart Dallas.
But it was Robertson’s cross which hed to that infringement, with the Scot getting a good amount of whip on it.
Here’s what Everton’s WSL player Izzy Christiansen said about Robertson.
She told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Typical Andy Robertson for the penalty. He is so clever and so smart with his delivery.”
The first goal is often the most important goal in drubbings like this because of the tone that it sets for the remainder of the contest and, with that in mind, Robertson can feel that his cross was a big factor in the victory.
And what a victory it was.
Not only was it a complete hammering, but Liverpool are now officially back in the Premier League title race.
Tottenham winning 3-2 at Manchester City on Saturday blew the race wide open again and Liverpool moved three points behind Pep Guardiola’s outfit with the Leeds win last night.
Honestly, three points is a nothing gap and with Klopp’s troops still having to play Manchester City this season, anything could happen.
