Chris Sutton has raved about Liverpool star James Milner on The Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live (7:35pm, November 14, 2022), and believes that he is a team player, unlike Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sutton has noted that Liverpool superstar Milner has not got any ego and will do his best for the team.

The former Chelsea striker made the comments about the Englishman while analysing Ronaldo’s recent comments about Manchester United and head coach Erik ten Hag in an interview with TV presenter and media personality Piers Morgan for talkTV.

Milner made his 600th appearance in the Premier League this past weekend.

The former Newcastle United and Leeds United star is 36 now.

Over the years, Milner has played as a midfielder, winger and full-back.

Sutton said about Milner: “The difference with Ronaldo and James Milner… James Milner is a team player. It’s all about the team. He is selfless. There isn’t any ego there.”

Role model

In our view, Liverpool star James Milner is a role model.

True, Milner is not at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo, but in terms of professionalism and dedication to his trade and to his team, you would struggle to find anyone better than the Englishman.

The former Manchester City star has been hugely successful in his career.

What is remarkable about Milner is that he is willing to play whenever and wherever.

We have seen the Liverpool ace cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back on occasions and play in midfield in other weeks.

Milner is simply a superb footballer and a model professional.
