Lucas Moura told Premier League Productions (15/08/21 at 6:35 pm) that Heung-Min Son is ‘ready’ to replace Harry Kane if he leaves Tottenham for Manchester City.

There has been a lot of well-documented talk about Kane’s future in North London, so what better way to add to that drama by facing off against that very team on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season?

Kane was absent for yesterday’s showdown as he builds up his fitness, but Son was on hand to ensure the three points were theirs after his left-footed strike sealed the points in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game in charge of the club.

Of course, Spurs would like to keep their star man up top, but if they lost him, Moura thinks the ‘clever’ Son is ready to take his place.

On the feeling in the changing room about Kane: “The feeling is exactly the same that everyone is excited to see the end of this history.

“But, of course, we hope to have him with us because he is an unbelievable player. One of the best strikers in the world. We are all waiting for the end of the history.

“But our focus is on the games now and the next game. We hope to have him.

On Son: “I think he is ready to be in that position if we don’t have Harry, I think Son is ready to play. He is very good at that. He makes very good movements, he’s quick and clever. He is ready.”

Nuno has done pretty well in dealing with all this drama surrounding Kane despite it starting before he walked through their doors.

It perhaps has elevated the type of man-manager he is and what is to come for this Spurs side that has faltered over the years.

But just like many associated with Tottenham, they probably can’t wait for the transfer window to slam shut.

If Kane is no longer their player then they know have a team that is ready to fight going forward, if he’s still in North London then he will probably feel like a new player because of everything that has been said about the Englishman this summer.
