Just as I expected, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal hammered Sheffield United away from home in the Premier League on Monday evening.
Arsenal have been banging in the goals for fun, and after destroying West Ham United, Burnley and Newcastle United, it was time for Mikel Arteta’s side to demolish Sheffield United.
The Gunners won the Premier League match on Monday evening 6-0. One of the players who scored for Arsenal was Declan Rice, a player Jamie Carragher rates highly.
Rice, who joined Arsenal from London and Premier League rivals West Ham United in the summer of 2023, found the back of the net in the 39th minute. Michael Owen was impressed.
Thierry Henry praises Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice vs Sheffield United
The 25-year-old England international midfielder has now scored five goals and given five assists in the Premier League, and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has been impressed.
The Sky Sports pundit has noted that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has changed Rice’s game by playing him further forward, which is why he is scoring goals.

Henry said on Sky Sports News (10:19 pm, March 4, 2024): “People were talking about, and I know that I am going to off last season, okay, Xhaka last season, oh he is better. No, he is not better. He plays in a different position, so you cannot see his weaknesses where he used to lose the ball more often than not.
“Declan Rice, we know that he is magnificent there, but he playing higher than he has ever played in his career. So, obviously he is at the end of movement to give assist and to score goals.
“Look at him – the run he made, you know the header against Luton when he goes into the box. He wants the ball, he is there, he is allowed because he has Jorginho under.”
My View: Declan Rice a big factor in Arsenal’s title challenge
In my opinion, Declan Rice has been a big factor behind Arsenal’s success this season.
Arsenal are in the race for the Premier League title and could still progress further in the UEFA Champions League.
I believe that Rice has been one of the best players for the North London club this campaign.
The 25-year-old England international is very good at shielding the back-four and imposes himself in the middle of the park.
Rice is also able to drive the team forward. That he is scoring goals and providing assists despite being a defensive midfield by trade shows just how much his game has evolved under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
