Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has told The London Evening Standard that he thinks that Dele Alli is happy to have left Frank Lampard’s Everton in the summer transfer window.

Dier played with fellow Englishman Alli for Tottenham in the Premier League.

English midfielder Alli left Tottenham for Premier League rivals Everton in January 2022.

However, the 26-year-old failed to make a huge impact at Everton in the second half of last season and joined Turkish giants Besiktas in the summer transfer window.

As announced on the Toffees’s official website, the former MK Dons midfielder has moved to Besiktas on loan until next summer.

Alli scored for his first goal for Besiktas in the 3-2 win against Ankaragucu, and his former Tottenham teammate Dier believes that the 26-year-old is now happy.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier on Dele Alli after Everton exit

Dier said about Alli: “I spoke to him after his first game. I think he is happy to have a new challenge, somewhere fresh.

“I think he is excited by a new experience from a life point of view as well and all I heard were positive things from him.

“He is young. 26. I think we all know in football things can change very quickly for anyone at any time so everything is possible. It is just up to us as individuals.”

Getting back on track

Dele Alli has not been at his best for a while now, and fizzling out at Tottenham Hotspur and then struggling at Everton meant that the midfielder needed to go abroad for a fresh challenge.

Alli’s goal for Besiktas will be massive for his confidence, and maybe, just maybe, in the coming weeks and months, he will be back to his best and get his career back on track.
