Some Brighton fans on social media are utterly convinced that Dan Ashworth will be joining Newcastle United after The Athletic reported that the Magpies are in talks with the Seagulls’ Technical Director.

Newcastle apparently want Ashworth to be their new Director of Football.
The Magpies have been looking for a figure like Ashworth for quite some time. They’ve been in the market for a Sporting Director type figure ever since they were taken over, and while they’ve failed to tempt Michael Emenalo and Marc Overmars, they’re now looking at the Brighton chief.

Newcastle may have failed with previous attempts to recruit a new Director of Football, but Brighton fans think that Ashworth is almost certainly on his way to Tyneside.
Indeed, Seagulls supporters have been very realistic about the fact that Newcastle are a much more appealing club than Brighton right now.
Think about it, United are now the richest club in the world, and as a person working in player recruitment, it doesn’t get more exciting than that.
Ashworth has proven his worth at Brighton in recent years. Making some brilliant signings such as Leandro Trossard, Yves Bissouma and Adam Webster all while working on something of a restrictive budget, so imagine what he could do when backed by a multi-billionaire investment group.
