Thanks to the Guardian, we have been given some insight into how much money Patrick Vieira has remaining in his budget at Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Well, the big news is that American businessman John Textor has invested £87.5m of his personal wealth into the club.
Textor – who made his fortune through his hologram company Facebank – has purchased an 18% stake in the south Londoners.
The Guardian believe his funds will help to redevelop Selhurst Park, bolster the squad, and will also help the academy.
Interestingly, the article states that Textor wanted to buy Crystal Palace outright, rather than just a small stake.
What does Patrick Vieira’s budget look like?

You’ll be pleased to hear that the Guardian believe Vieira still has significant funds to spend on new players this summer.
The Eagles are likely to prioritise a new striker and a new left-back with the money, as transfer deadline day looms ever closer.
In our view, the last thing Crystal Palace need is another left-back.

Tyrick Mitchell has made the position his own, while Jeffrey Schlupp can also cover there if need be.
Also, Vieira has Reece Hannam as an option at left-back, a bright prospect who won the club’s Under-23 Player of the Year last season.
A striker wouldn’t go amiss, but it would be pointless for Vieira to spend his money on another left-back.
