‘He is as good as anyone’: Neil Warnock says Newcastle ace is up there with the best

Speaking on the Die for Three Points Podcast, Neil Warnock has been picking his England team and Kieran Trippier has made the cut at right-back.

The former Sheffield United boss, inevitably, opted to go for a classic back four, and he’s picked Trippier ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker.

Warnock noted just how much of a fan he is of Trippier, stating that he’s as good as anyone else in that position.

Trippier up there with the best

Warnock praised Trippier as he named his England defence.

“I’m going with a back four of Trippier, he is as good as anyone at right-back, I’d go with John Stones, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw. I would go with Maguire because he trusts him and I’m a manager who plays players who I trust more than bringing someone else in. That would be my back four,” Warnock said.

Best in the league

There really aren’t many arguments to make around Trippier’s ability this season.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold out of form and Reece James suffering with injuries alongside Kyle Walker, it’s hard to make a case against Trippier being the Premier League’s best right-back this season.

He’s been a rock in the defence and a menace in the attack, the England international could well be a shoo-in to start the opening game of the tournament on Monday afternoon.

At the age of 31, Trippier is not showing any signs of slowing down, and he’ll be hoping to carry his good World Cup form over from 2018 in Qatar as England finally look to end 56 years of hurt.
