Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has revealed the influential striker that he is consistently in contact with ahead of the new season.
Since Darwin Nunez completed his £80 million move from SL Benfica to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool back in the summer of 2022, the Uruguayan forward has been a constant source of ridicule.
Whether it was because of his inconsistent form at Anfield or his struggles in putting the ball in the back of the net, Nunez has certainly not had things easy since transferring from the Portuguese giants. Last season for the Reds, Nunez scored 18 goals across all competitions.
However, with former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, who has a history of turning around his striker’s form, about to take over, this represents a fresh start for the South American forward.

Nunez reveals help given to him by Liverpool legend
Nunez would perhaps be wise to study some of the superb strikers that fans of the Anfield club have witnessed, particularly since the turn of the century.
Whether it’s Roberto Firmino, Fernando Torres or Robbie Fowler, the Reds have had a myriad of top class strikers and, in a recent interview, Nunez has revealed that another iconic Liverpool forward in Luis Suarez, who scored 69 goals at Anfield, has given him advice.
“More than anything, you always need the support of your teammates,” he told Mediotempo, during his time at the Copa America.
“I think that in the national team today we have a beautiful group, a group that if a player is bad, we know that references like Luis Suárez are going to come, who is always there, there giving advice.
“I always try to get together with him, to talk about football things, about his past. He is always there to give me advice and I take everything as positive and try applying it.”
Nunez would be wise to follow in Suarez’s footsteps
Despite some of the antics away from the football pitch Suarez would be involved, there is no doubting that the Uruguayan striker was one of the best of the decade.
Alongside Daniel Sturridge, Suarez nearly won Liverpool their first Premier League title back in the 2013-14 season.
The iconic forward, who moved to Barcelona after Liverpool, is coming to the end of his career but with 68 goals in 138 appearances for the national team, Nunez would be very smart to try and learn a thing or two from the 37-year-old.
