Tottenham Hotspur legend Teddy Sheringham thinks his former club need to sign a striker like Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson to replace Harry Kane.
Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich last week, but the north London outfit are yet to bring in a direct replacement.
Speaking to the Daily Express about who he would like to see succeed the England captain at Spurs, Sheringham said: “I like the look of him [Ferguson]. He is a tremendous prospect, but he is very young.
“It would be a massive amount of pressure if Tottenham looked at him to replace Kane with.”
The ex-Manchester United star also went on to add: “I do think that [Ivan] Toney and Ferguson are the type of strikers that Tottenham need to add. They are missing that focal point to spearhead the attack.”

Whether it is Ferguson or Toney, it definitely makes sense for Tottenham to bring in a new No.9 before the transfer window closes in September.
While Richarlison can play up front and was used there by manager Ange Postecoglou in Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Brentford last Sunday, it would be a bit of a gamble to make him the team’s first-choice striker.
The Brazilian has really struggled in front of goal since arriving in north London, managing to score just once in the Premier League last season.
It is why Postecoglou could do with the club signing another No.9, though targeting the likes of Ferguson and Toney will come with its issues.
You suspect that Brighton would ask for crazy money for the former after selling Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115m. Simply put, they do not sell their players for cheap. As for the latter, he would not be able to play for a while because of his ban.
It would, therefore, be a surprise if Tottenham ended up signing either Ferguson or Toney during this transfer window.
