Amanda Staveley has lauded Allan Saint-Maximin at Newcastle United, describing him as a ‘star’.

Staveley and Saudi Public Investment Fund completed their takeover at Newcastle on Thursday.

On the morning of the deal, when it was effectively confirmed that the Magpies would be under new ownership, Saint-Maximin uploaded a video on Twitter which showed his support for the project.

On the pitch, the French winger has captured the heart of virtually every Newcastle fan with his powerful running and bag of tricks.

And even Staveley has admitted that she’s a fan of the 24-year-old.

In an interview released by The Chronicle today, she said: “He is a star. The best thing about this morning was seeing his Tweet! It made me laugh after the long days. We want to build.

“We have some incredible players with heart and real skill and courage.”

Star

Well, Staveley got that word spot-on because she’s right, he certainly has the x-factor.

The former Nice winger has the talent and personality that Newcastle fans have warmed to in a massive way over the past two years.

And excitingly, he’s only going to get much better.

At 24, Saint-Maximin’s ceiling is enormous and he has created 13 chances for his Newcastle teammates this season which, for comparison, is almost double what Paul Pogba has managed – 7.

And with three goals and two assists in the Premier League this season, the wide man clearly has an end product, too.

If Staveley does wind up gutting this team over the coming years, upgrading it in a massive way, Saint-Maximin is good enough to remain.
