David Luiz has moved to praise his new Arsenal teammate Gabriel on the club’s official website.
Thomas Partey really stole the show for Arsenal yesterday, as they picked up a 2-1 win over Rapid Wien in the Europa League.
But, quietly, Gabriel had yet another assured game at the back for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Brazilian defender was rock solid as Arsenal got their European campaign off to a winning start.
And Luiz says that he has been very impressed by what he has seen for the Gunners summer recruit so far.
“He is a great player, a great friend,” Luiz, who played alongside Gabriel at the back yesterday, said.

“I think he’s showed already his quality, his personality, so we are trying to do our best for the team.”
Luiz and Gabriel are likely to see plenty of game time together at Arsenal over the coming weeks.
With Rob Holding out injured, the duo look likely to be Arsenal’s first choice central defensive pairing for the foreseeable future.
Arsenal are next in action when they take on Leicester City on Sunday evening.
