Rio Ferdinand has raved about reported Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara on BT Sport.

The Manchester United legend has been impressed with the Bayern Munich central midfielder, and believes that he would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool.

The former England international central defender has outlined the attributes of the 29-year-old Spain international.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing Thiago and are favourites to secure his services this summer.

Ferdinand said about Thiago on BT Sport, as transcribed by Goal.com: “He is a conductor, somebody who controls the tempo of the game, he’s got a wing mirror so he can see behind him, can see all angles, play every pass in the game Intelligent player, he speaks the language which is an important part of it as well.

“He’d be a dream to have for someone like Liverpool. He’s the type of player they probably haven’t got.”

Good signing for Liverpool?

Thiago is a world-class footballer who was a success at Barcelona and has been a massive hit at Bayern.

The central midfielder is a serial winner, and he can hold his own in the middle of the park and makes Bayern tick.

The 29-year-old is at the top of his game, and the Spain international would make an immediate impact at Anfield.

True, Liverpool won the Premier League title this past season, but the Reds cannot stay still and need to make their team stronger.

The arrival of Thiago at Anfield would enhance the Reds’ chances of winning the Premier League title next season as well make them more competitive in the Champions League.
