Jurgen Klopp has revealed that James Milner isn’t the biggest fan of playing at right-back for Liverpool.

The veteran utility player has been doing a stand-up job as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement in recent weeks.

And with Liverpool set to host Premier League champions Manchester City today, Milner is likely to continue in that role.

But the Reds boss has admitted that although Milner – signed by Brendan Rodgers – is a ‘special’ player, he loathes his current position.

He told the club’s official website: “We all know Millie is a really special, special guy. He hates the position, pretty much – but for that, he plays not bad!”

Evergreen

At 35, Milner is clearly defying the aging process.

The Liverpool star has already kept the likes of Wilfried Zaha quiet enough in spite of the fact he apparently dislikes this right-back role.

But today could be far tougher because he could be up against Jack Grealish.

Zaha is as good and as tricky as they come, but Grealish is a £100 million player and this is far more of a test for the evergreen man.

Having said that, it’s a test that you wouldn’t back against him to pass with flying colours nonetheless.
