Jermaine Pennant told talkSPORT that Liverpool midfielder, Jordan Henderson, ‘hasn’t got the time’ to join a club like Arsenal.

It has been well-documented during the week that Henderson has had contract trouble with Liverpool.

The England international has two years left on his current deal, with PSG seemingly admirers of the hard-hitting midfielder.

With all the talk about Henderson’s future, it was put to Pennant whether the former Sunderland man would make the surprise move to Arsenal, he issued this response.

“They (Arsenal) are at a re-build,” said Pennant. “He hasn’t got that time on his side.

“I can’t see him wanting to leave Liverpool. It’s just a matter of more years on his contract or just the wages bit?

“Coming to the latter stages of your career, the money will start declining.

“Now, it’s all about a comprise to get that middle ground. There is a lot of time and discussions to have. He’s not going to want to leave Liverpool after winning so much. He’s not going to be wanting to fight mid-table.”

It’s going to be interesting to see what Jurgen Klopp’s take is on all of this because he surely wouldn’t want to lose such a key figure in the dressing room.

The key thing for Liverpool is that they have time on their hands to reach an agreement with Henderson.

There will be that fear that the Reds might have another Gini Wijnaldum on their hands.

And whilst the Dutchman left for PSG on a free transfer this summer, it’s not in Henderson’s nature to leave in such a manner.
