Thierry Henry was critical of Tottenham Hotspur loanee, Tanguy Ndombele, and claimed that he ‘hasn’t been playing well’ for Napoli this season.

This despite the 25-year-old scoring his first goal for Napoli on Wednesday night, when Luciano Spalletti’s side maintained their 100% to the Champions League by beating Rangers 3-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday night.

Ndombele, who was once Tottenham’s club-record transfer at £53 million (BBC Sport), came off the bench for the last ten minutes and scored in stoppage-time to seal the cherry on the cake for his team.

In January, he returned to Lyon to try and re-find that magic he lost in north London, after Antonio Conte didn’t want the player part of his plans.

But, even being back in the colours of where he shone brightest, Ndombele struggled and they opted against re-signing the ball-carrying midfielder on a permanent basis this summer, which in truth, said it all.

Well, when Henry was reacting to Ndombele’s goal yesterday, he pointed out that things haven’t started well for the player in Naples, despite his team sitting top of Serie A, as he told CBS Sports (14/09/22 at 10:55 pm).

“Glen Kamara loses the ball, then Anguissa gets it and Tanguy Ndombele, who hasn’t been playing that well this season, arrives there for Napoli and gets the ball,” said Henry.

“But by then, the game was already done.”

NDOMBELE’S TOTTENHAM CAREER IS OVER

Unless the magic of the late great Diego Maradona rushes through Ndombele’s veins during his time in Italy, his career at Spurs is pretty much over.

A player that arrived with so much promise, hype and hope that he can elevate the team, it has ended in nothing short of a disaster and one of the club’s worst-ever transfers.

Mauricio Pochettino, during his short time working with Ndombele, couldn’t get the best out of the player, whilst hugs and kicks at the same time from one of football’s greatest-ever managers, Jose Mourinho, didn’t work either.

And, when Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Hotspur Way, it only took the Italian a couple of months to boot Ndombele out, so it’s pretty clear he needs to look in the mirror if he wants to turn his career around.
