Glenn Hoddle has criticised Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier.
Pundit Glenn Hoddle slammed Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier for ‘laziness’ against Slovenia, as heard on ITV’s coverage of England’s clash this evening.
England drew 0-0 away at Slovenia this evening, and looked flat in Ljubljana as goalkeeper Joe Hart kept the Three Lions in the game and made sure they left with a point.

Hart was called upon on a number of occasions, with sloppiness in front of him handing Slovenia a number of chances to score, with Eric Dier guilty of that.
The Tottenham ace may be one of the most promising young players in the country, but he was slack early on having been out through injury of late, and it showed as he played a lazy back pass towards Hart.
Roman Bezjak’s subsequent shot was saved by Hart, before Jasmin Kurtic rattled the woodwork and Bezjak fired the rebound wide as England were let off the hook from Dier’s mistake.

Dier will be in contention to play for Spurs away at West Brom this weekend, but manager Mauricio Pochettino may choose to stick with Victor Wanyama after tonight’s display – and Dier was slammed by former Spurs player and manager Glenn Hoddle.
The pundit, commentating on Slovenia v England for ITV, accused Dier of ‘laziness’ during his ball back to Hart, stating that he didn’t even look up to see attackers bearing down on Hart’s goal.

Hoddle added, as quoted by The Mirror, that Dier needs to sharpen up having been out recently, and much show more awareness in the middle of the park as ‘you have to have your eyes everywhere’ when playing in front of the back four.
“He’s not even looked up, it’s laziness from Dier, really poor,” said Hoddle. “On the ball he has to sharpen up a little bit. He has had some time out and looks behind everyone else in terms of his awareness. In the centre of that pitch you have to have your eyes everywhere and be on top of your game.”
