Jamie O’Hara has urged Kalvin Phillips to leave Manchester City, but doesn’t think he starts for Tottenham Hotspur.
Things just seem to be getting from bad to worse for the former Leeds United man.
Yes, Kalvin Phillips is a Treble-winner with Manchester City, but he only played under 600 minutes of football last season and is yet to start a Premier League game this term.
This is despite Rodri being suspended, with Pep Guardiola opting to start Bernardo Silva as a number six, playing youngster Rico Lewis in that position, not subbing off red-card-challenge-happy Mateo Kovacic against Arsenal and using John Stones in that defensive role instead.
Tottenham have emerged as possible contenders to sign the 27-year-old when the January transfer window re-opens, with suggestions that he is ‘likely to leave’ the Etihad.
If the hard-hitting midfielder does move, O’Hara was struggling to see which top side he would start for, as he told talkSPORT.

Kalvin Phillips’ Manchester City future
“He is getting absolutely pied, isn’t he?!” said O’Hara. “He has got to go.
“If you are getting left out for an 18-year-old, and a winger, then a centre-half comes on in midfield in front of you as well, then you might as well pack yourself off.
“You aren’t going to play. If I am him then I am knocking on the door and say ‘Pep, just pay me up’.
“Where does he go? What football club would take him? He doesn’t get into Tottenham’s team. What team does he get in? He has to start. If he is leaving Man City, then he has to play week in and week out.”

Kalvin Phillips at Tottenham
As of this moment, Phillips doesn’t get into Spurs’ XI, with Ange Postecoglou’s side sitting top of the Premier League table.
But the depth in quality isn’t exactly great, nor would he have Rodri in front of him, so it increases his chances of earning those minutes at Hotspur Way.
So, from that perspective, it’s worth pushing for Phillips’ signature if you are Spurs.
