Darren Ambrose has told Isaac Hayden to ‘get out’ of Newcastle United for the betterment of his own career.

The 28-year-old was on-loan at Championship side, Norwich City, last season and now there are suggestions that he could be going out on loan again, this time to newly-promoted Luton Town.

When former Newcastle midfielder Ambrose heard about that news, he told Isaac Hayden that he needs to leave because he is ‘way, way down the pecking order’ and he isn’t going to play, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (28/08/23 at 7:25 pm).

Eddie Howe has a stack of midfield players to pick from, and with the summer arrival of Sandro Tonali, it has just made life difficult for certain players to earn minutes even though they haven’t done anything wrong.

Sean Longstaff is a prime example. He played a key part in the Magpies securing a top-four finish, yet he has now been benched, with Jamie Redknapp stating that he feels ‘sorry’ for the midfielder.

Either way, with the rumours that Hayden could be heading to Luton, who are yet to pick up a point this season, Ambrose shared the following response.

“He has to get out of Newcastle, let’s be honest,” said Ambrose. “He’s way, way down the pecking order. I don’t think he is going to play.

“So, to go to another Premier League club. It’s going to be difficult for Luton. We know that. None of the promoted teams have got a point yet, so it’s going to be difficult.

“But Luton are trying to get in some quality Premier League players in Ross Barkley and now Isaac Hayden. Hopefully, it goes well for him.”

Hayden would benefit from Luton move

Whilst Hayden was pivotal in Newcastle returning to the Premier League a number of years ago, they are a different animal now.

He hasn’t been able to progress along with the team, even though they have increased at a rapid rate during these past 18 or so months.

The former Arsenal man needs those regular starts and he will get it for a Luton team in desperate need of experience and know-how, as they try to fight their way to safety in England’s top-flight.
