Tim Sherwood has backed Dejan Kulusevski to play in the middle of the park for Tottenham by adding that he has the ‘range of passing’ to do so.
The former Spurs boss was making reference to how he would ‘love to see’ Antonio Conte play Son Heung-min, Harry Kane, Richarlison and Kulusevski in the same XI.
That hasn’t happened yet, but during Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Marseille in the Champions League, all four of them were on the pitch at the same time.

There has been some serious competition for those forward places this season, with Conte chopping and changing ever since the first ball was kicked.
Well, things went up a notch over the weekend when the benched Son scored a hat-trick during Tottenham’s 6-2 win over Leicester.
Who gets dropped now for the next game? Kulusevski? Or Richarlison? It certainly won’t be Kane or Son. Either way, Sherwood wants to see all four of them playing at the same time, as he told Premier League Productions.
“I would love to see him do that (play all four of Son, Kane, Richarlison and Kulusevski),” said Sherwood.
“I think Kulusevski could be the one who could play deeper. I think he has the workrate. I think he has the attitude. He certainly has the range of passing that would suit a midfield player. So, I think there are ways he could tinker with the system.”

CONTE SHOULD STICK TO THE THREE
All of this is good news for Tottenham because it creates competition within the squad and makes the depth they have much stronger.
At the start of the season, not many would have foreseen Kulusevski sitting on the bench, given the impact he has had since January.
But that’s exactly what has happened.
Added with that, the biggest surprise was Son’s start to the season, and after his performance against Leicester, that’s probably the last time he will be sitting on the bench.
Either way, if Conte can have at least one of those on the bench for every game, with the bit between their teeth and ready to reclaim their starting spot, then it benefits nobody but Spurs in the long run.
