Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffside that Marcelo Gallardo does not want to become the new Leeds United manager now.

The Italian journalist has said that Gallardo would be the ideal manager for Leeds at the moment.

The Premier League club are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Jesse Marsch.

The American boss was relieved of his duties at Elland Road last week after a run of poor results.

Leeds are now in grave danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Athletic have also reported that Leeds are interested in appointing the 47-year-old Argentine boss.

However, according to the report, the former River Plate boss does not want to become the manager of any team in the middle of the season.

Marcelo Gallardo stance on Leeds United job

Romano said: “Personally, I’d go for former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo, I think he would be an amazing choice and a top coach in my opinion, but at the moment he has no intention to accept a job at Leeds.”

Maybe wait until the summer

If Leeds United are really keen on Marcelo Gallardo, then perhaps they could wait until the summer of 2023.

Maybe the Premier League club should appoint someone for the rest of the season and then move for Gallardo again thereafter.

According to iNews, Leeds could hire former Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder on a deal that runs until the end of the season.

Now, that would not be a bad idea.
