Speaking on Goal’s YouTube channel, Kieran Tierney has named his old Celtic teammate Scott Brown as the best player he’s ever played with.
The Scottish full-back was taking part in the ‘Simply The Best’ series where he had to name some of his favourite things, people and teams within football.
Inevitably, Tierney was asked to name the best player he’s ever been able to call his teammate, and he says that Brown is the greatest teammate he’s ever had.
What’s been said?
Tierney showered Brown with praise.
“The best player that I’ve played with would be Scott Brown from Celtic. I think as an influential player on and off the pitch he has it all, he’s the perfect captain and someone that any player in the world could learn from,” Tierney said.
Influential
Let’s make one thing straight, Scott Brown is not the best footballer Kieran Tierney has ever played alongside.
Tierney has played with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard – even Brown himself would admit that they’re better footballers than he is.
However, in terms of influence on and off the pitch, there aren’t many in football history who can match Brown.
As Tierney says, he was the perfect captain at Celtic, he embodied everything that makes that football club so incredible, and he left it all on the pitch every single time he pulled on a hooped shirt.
Technically, Brown wasn’t up there with the greatest players of all-time, but there aren’t many footballers you’d rather have leading your team than the Celtic legend.
