Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are doing extremely well at the moment and could end up in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 53 points from 27 matches.

Spurs are two points behind Aston Villa, who are fourth and have played 28 games. Unai Emery’s side lost to Tottenham this past weekend.

Manchester United are sixth with 47 points from 28 games. I think that Tottenham are favourites to clinch the fourth spot.

Alan Pardew praises Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison

Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has noted the importance of James Maddison in the current Tottenham team.

The talkSPORT pundit has raved about the former Leicester City attacking midfielder and has said that he is so good that he should be part of the England starting lineup at the Euro 2024 finals.

Pardew said about Maddison on talkSPORT (7:27 pm, March 10, 2024): “The key to Spurs for me is Maddison. You know, I was looking at all the stuff at the weekend, people were writing up their England teams because England play Belgium and Brazil coming up and looking at that, and Maddison is in my team.

“My midfield is Rice, Bellingham, Saka on the right, Foden on the left, Maddison as the 10 and Kane at the top. I think he is that good. He can get in that team.

“I hope he does because he has got an invention about him. Of all them players I have just mentioned, I think he is the one, I wouldn’t say he is technically the best, but I think he has the best mind for that role.”

My View: James Maddison is key to Tottenham Hotspur’s success

In my opinion, James Maddison is one of the best and most important players for Tottenham Hotspur.

In Maddison, Tottenham have finally found their new Christian Eriksen. The England international is a brilliant number 10, and he is still only 27.

I think that Maddison can go up another gear and take his game to another level. His best years are ahead of him. The £170,000-a-week (Spotrac) Englishman has been superb for Spurs since his move from Leicester City in the summer of 2023.

The 27-year-old has scored four goals and given seven assists in 17 Premier League matches for Tottenham this season.

The playmaker has made 180 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. He has scored 47 goals and given 39 assists in those games.
