Rangers have signed former Leeds striker Roofe from Anderlecht in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Scottish Sun to be worth £3.5 million.
Douglas, who has played once for the Scotland national football team and can also operate as a left wing-back, has spoken highly of the 27-year-old striker.
The Leeds star said: “Playing with Roofe, he has everything you’d want in a striker. He’s got movement, he’s quick, he’ll run in behind, can hold the ball up and score goals too. Roofe’s very strong for not being the tallest. He can rough defenders up as well.
“He’s definitely got all the attributes to succeed and being at a club like Rangers, and the dominance they will have and the chances they will create in games, he’s definitely going to get among the goals.”
Good signing for Rangers?
Roofe has had injury problems during his time at Anderlecht, and the striker could not make the desired impact at the Belgian club this past season.
However, when fit and available, the former West Bromwich Albion man is a very good player who scores goals and is also able to operate as a winger.
The striker showed at Leeds what he is capable of, as he scored 15 goals in the Championship in 2018-19 and 11 times in the league in 2017-18, according to WhoScored.
Roofe will enhance Rangers’ chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title this season.
