Stewart Robson says Darwin Nunez has ‘everything’ to his game, as he backed the striker to explode for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on the Premier League stage this forthcoming season.
The former Arsenal player thinks Darwin Nunez’s finishing is the only thing that ‘let him down’ during his debut campaign in English football, as he told ESPN.
After securing a big-money transfer from Benfica to Liverpool, there were a lot of expectations on his shoulders.
But the 24-year-old only managed nine Premier League goals, although, outside of the penalty area, he looked a big threat and showcased serious power.
It’s just a case of moulding all of that together and then he will be hoping to sing and dance under Klopp.
Robson certainly thinks that will happen and he added that the £140k-a-week star (Spotrac) will become the ‘star’ of the Premier League for years to come.
“He has got everything,” said Robson. “He can run in behind. He can win balls in the air. Play through the inside left position. It has only been his finishing that has let him down.
“If a forward keeps getting into those areas, then he is going to improve that. At some point, his confidence is going to be built. I think he will be an exceptional player for Liverpool for several seasons and become a star of the Premier League.”
Suarez vibes with Nunez?
Not in terms of style of play, although, the duo do have that aggression to their game that gives them that edge.
But Luis Suarez needed time to settle in, before he well and truly smoked the league.
Perhaps it’s now the turn of Nunez, who if he gets off to a strong start, can use that confidence to prove why so much money was paid for his talents.
