Tottenham’s recruitment during the last few years has gone under the radar, in a positive way.
There was a period when several players, from Davinson Sanchez to Tanguy Ndombele, were just abject transfer deals.
But there have been many transfers, during the last few years, that have proven to be a masterstroke from Tottenham.
Yes, the marmite-like figure Daniel Levy doesn’t crazily splash the cash, but he has still backed his managers in the dugout, including Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
The feeling is that Micky van de Ven was perhaps Tottenham’s most important deal in the summer because of the way he plays and how he suits the team’s adventurous style of play.
On Sunday, the 22-year-old scored his first home goal in Spurs colours and Nemanja Vidic labelled his thunderous strike as ‘fantastic’, as he told Premier League Productions (07/04/24 at 8:10 pm).
The Manchester United legend added that van de Ven brings ‘confidence’ to the table and is someone who has done ‘really well’ since moving from Wolfsburg.
And, as of this moment, it feels like he is going to help his team to Champions League football.

“Fantastic,” said Vidic about van de Ven’s goal against Forest.
“First of all, a great touch. He put the ball further from the players coming to close him down. He hit the ball with power. A great goal. It’s always nice to score a goal as a defender. He gives confidence for the games to come, so a fantastic goal.
“I think he has done really well (since transfer from Wolfsburg). He’s a young boy. They have helped boost his confidence and helped him to achieve the goal, which is the Champions League, but a fantastic defender.”

This is where Levy needs to back his man and go all out to push the team forward again.
It can’t be denied that Postecoglou has made huge improvements at the club this season and they are going to make a return to Europe.
It would be the cherry on top of the cake if it’s the Champions League, but either way, he is going to need backing in the summer transfer market.
The forward areas are expected to be bulked up, with sources telling HITC that Club Brugge star Antonio Nusa is on the radar.
